The Curriculum | |
|
During the first year in school the children follow a curriculum based on the Early Learning Goals, produced by the DfEE (Department for Education and Employment) of Great Britain. As soon as it is felt appropriate, the children are given access to the full National Curriculum of Uganda. This informs all planning throughout the school. The children follow the programme of study for primary one and two in all areas of the curriculum. The morning pre-break sessions focus on literacy and numeracy. The children follow a daily routine of whole class teaching followed by independent group work or focused small group teaching.
The framework for these sessions is prescribed in the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies of Great Britain. The after-break sessions focus on science, RE and the foundation subjects of art, history, geography, PE, Music design technology and personal and social education.
Information and communication Technology is used in each area of the curriculum. The children have access to a load balanced curriculum that allows them to develop at their pace, we endeavour to enable them to build on their strengths and develop areas of weakness. The school places emphasis on high standards and sets challenging targets for pupils. |
